Highlighting that questions on electricity companies were raised earlier also during the tenure of Sheila Dikshit-led Congress Government, Delhi BJP chief Satish Upadhyay accused the ruling AAP of not initiating any action on the issue.

"If there is less of generation loss and electricity theft, then the consumers must get the benefits. It has been six months of the AAP Government and if the electricity companies are forging the estimations then who is responsible for that," asked Upadhyay.

"When the government was not formed, the people used to get 400 unit supply of electricity. So, the bill has increased to 2000-2500, so the government should take its responsibility. Only giving statements or saying that electricity companies are indulging in wrong doings won't work. Your tangible action on consumer's bill is important," he added.

According to reports, the CAG has said there is scope for bringing down electricity tariffs in the national capital.

The CAG in its report stated that power discoms in Delhi had inflated their dues to be recovered from the consumers by almost Rs. 8,000 crore.

The AAP Government had earlier ordered a special CAG report of the power companies alleging the discoms were overcharging consumers in Delhi using unfair means.
