Home Ministry sources said there was no plan as of now to accord the status to Delhi, the national capital of India.

It is currently ruled by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) led by Chief Minster Arvind Kejriwal.

The AAP had listed demand for full statehood for Delhi in its manifesto and Kejriwal has been pressing for the same in his speeches after being elected with absolute majority.

The recent tussle between the Delhi CM and Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung over routing of files is also being seen as an attempt by Kejriwal to test waters for full statehood for the capital city.
