The US National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) has released a high-resolution satellite image of Typhoon Ineng which is almost the size of the entire island of Luzon, Philippines.
Manila: The US space agency National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) has released a high-resolution satellite image of Typhoon Ineng which is almost the size of the entire island of Luzon, Philippines.
According to a report from ABS-CBNnews.com, NASA's Aqua satellite flew over Typhoon Ineng while it was affecting the country early afternoon on Friday.
The imaged was captured by the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) instrument aboard Aqua satellite that showed the clouds from Typhoon Ineng's southwestern quadrant covering the island of Luzon.
As of 10 a.m Saturday, 22 August 2015, Typhoon Ineng was located based on all available data at 165 km northeast of Calayan, Cagayan (20.3°N, 122.6°E).
On Friday, the state weather bureau PAGASA said that Typhoon Ineng was packing maximum winds of 170 kilometers per hour and gusts of 205 kph.
At least five people were killed while thousands were affected as Typhoon Ineng ravaged northern Luzon on Friday.
The name Ineng has been used by PAGASA 4 times to name tropical cyclones in the Western Pacific. The international name of Typhoon Ineng is Goni.
