Kamala Nehru College, one of the most popular women's college of South Campus, Delhi University, is preferred for its Humanities course.

College Principal Minoti Chatterjee says, “All our departments are strong and do commendable work. But Humanities is quite strong and our focus is more on it. We also offer Journalism. Besides, we are planning to convert diploma in French language into a Bachelor's degree course. The procedures have been completed in this respect. We are waiting for UGC approval.


Sharing the activities organised by college, Principal Chatterjee adds, “We don't make students a bookworm rather we emphasise on their overall personality development. For this purpose, we organise 10 seminars every year, in which experts are invited to speak on the related topics. We also send our students to different places for workshops.”


Apart from this, each department organises its own festival consisting debate, speech, song, drama, dance competitions. Students from other colleges also participate in these festivals.


The college also provides placement to its students. “At least 15 percent of the students get placed through placement cell every year,” shares the Principal.


On being asked why should students opt for this college, Principal Chatterjee replies, “We take care of students at every stage. Students should come here for better education and better personality development.”


Applauding the college faculty, a final year student Saloni asserts, “My college life has been fantastic. Kamla Nehru College is not less than North Campus colleges in any manner. It has a big library and excellent faculty. Our professors are very friendly and cooperative. We can talk to them whenever we have a problem.”


The college was established in 1964 and was formerly known as 'Government College for Women'. Earlier it was in Defence Colony. Later the college was given a new name and it became Kamla Nehru College. The college celebrated its Golden Jubilee in 2014.
