"Successful Incubator projects will be carefully scrutinised and managed. Proper documentation, community engagement and widespread adoption will help Incubator projects graduate into their own standalone repos," technology website Tech Crunch quoted Facebook as saying.

The first project seeded in the Incubator is create-react-app -- an app created using React Native, a framework of building native apps using React.

The Incubator project willc not only provide repos -- a repurchase agreement or a form of short-term borrowing for dealers in government securities -- but also a new way of thinking when developing projects.

Incubator may seem unnecessary but it is a cleaner way for a large company to distribute new tools without getting lost in the GitHub -- online project hosting place -- whirlpool.

According to the report, Apple or Google may follow suit with similar initiatives, perhaps hosting several incubators under one account.
