Ahmedabad: It seems, the bookies have already delivered the 2014 Lok Sabha poll verdict, at least on one individual.
As per a report in a leading English daily, several bookies in Rajkot, Indore and Ahmedabad are no more accepting bets on Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi as the next prime minister.
The move indicates bookies no more see Rahul as a candidate in the PM race post May 16 when the results of the General Elections will be announced. At present, bets on BJP`s PM candidate Narendra Modi are being offered at 45 paise, roughly the same rate being offered about a month ago. What this means is, if one places a bet of Rs 100 on Modi and the BJP leader goes on to become the PM after May 16, one would get Rs 145 in return. Nearly a month ago, bets on Rahul were being offered for Rs 6-7, while the rate for Aam Aadmi Party leader Arvind Kejriwal was about Rs 500-525. Latest opinion surveys have projected the BJP-led NDA to win over 230 seats while the Congress-led UPA is expected to be restricted to about 100 seats.
