Hisar: Punjab Chief Minister and SAD patron Parkash Singh Badal on Tuesday said INLD leader Dushyant Chautala would be given ministerial berth at the Centre once he was elected as Member of Parliament.
"You elect Dushyant Chautala as Member of Parliament and I (Badal) will make him minister at the Centre. Chaudhary Devi Lal was my close friend and I see his image in Dushyant Chautala. He will be the youngest MP and youngest Union Minister," Badal told a gathering at meeting while campaigning for Dushyant in Hisar here today.
INLD chief Om Prakash Chautala`s grandson Dushyant is locked in a high stakes poll battle with HJC chief Kuldeep Bishnoi, Congress` Sampat Singh, and Aam Aadmi Party`s YS Khyalia in Hisar.
While SAD is a key ally of BJP in Punjab and an important constituent of the NDA, in Haryana, the BJP is allied with Kuldeep Bishnoi-led HJC. INLD is fighting all the ten Lok Sabha seats in Haryana on its own after it failed to strike an alliance with BJP, and in fact, is opposing BJP candidates in the state.
As part of its tie-up, HJC has fielded its candidates in two seats, Hisar and Sirsa, while BJP is fighting the rest.
HJC`s Bishnoi had slammed INLD for inviting Badals for campaigning in Haryana while accusing Badals` of working against Haryana`s interests.
Lambasting Congress, Badal accused the party of playing a policy of divide and rule.
Hitting out at the UPA government at Centre and Bhupinder Singh Hooda government in Haryana, he said all sections of the society were fed up with both the governments, as they had pursued "anti-people" policies in the past ten years.
The SAD patron claimed that Congress, which had lost its base in several states, would vanish from Haryana and Punjab after the Lok Sabha elections. Badal also supported the INLD claims that Congress was hatching a conspiracy to put Om Prakash Chautala and his son Ajay Chautala behind bars.
"Truth will prevail in the end. People know that they are innocent," he said.
