FIR against Giriraj for threatening to send Narendra Modi`s opponents to Pakistan
A day after the Bharatiya Janata Party`s senior leader Giriraj Singh struck a controversy by saying that the opponents of the party`s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi will have to shift base to Pakistan, an FIR was lodged against him on Sunday at Deoghar district police station Jharkhand.

Deoghar: A day after Bharatiya Janata Party`s senior leader Giriraj Singh struck a controversy by saying that the opponents of the party`s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi will have to shift base to Pakistan, an FIR was lodged against him on Sunday at Deoghar district police station, Jharkhand.
“FIR filed against BJP leader Giriraj Singh in Mohanpur police station in Deoghar district,” Deoghar Superintendent of Police Rakesh Bansal said.
Also, Deoghar SDM Jay Jyoti Samanta, who is also the deputy Returning Officer, confirmed that, “An FIR has been registered against Giriraj under several IPC sections and the Representation of People`s Act, 1951.”
While addressing an election rally yesterday, at Godda district, Singh had said, “Those who are trying to stop Modi will have no place in India and can look for a place in Pakistan after the results of the General Elections will be announced.” Meanwhile, an embarrassed BJP today distanced itself from the statement and tried to undo the damage with party chief Rajnath Singh saying it believes in politics of taking everybody along.
BJP spokesperson Nirmala Sitharaman said the party had nothing to do with Giriraj Singh`s statement. Party sources said Giriraj has been conveyed the party`s displeasure and asked to refrain from stoking any further row.
Senior Bihar BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi termed the statement `irresponsible` and said the party does not approve of it.
"BJP doesn`t approve of irresponsible statement given by Giriraj Singh," he tweeted.
However, Giriraj, who is a Lok Sabha candidate from Nawada, remained unfazed and stood by his controversial comment that has been condemned by rival parties as violation of Model Code of Conduct. "I stand by my statement that those trying their best to stop Modi from coming to power have no place in India and should go to Pakistan whose interests these Modi-baiters have sought to espouse by opposing him in the polls," Giriraj told PTI.
Further, an another FIR was today filed against Giriraj Singh, former BJP president Nitin Gadkari and some other party leaders following a controversial remark by Singh that the Centre gave subsidy to those who exported beef and taxed those who reared cows.
Gadkari and its Godda Lok Sabha candidate Nishikant Dubey were also present on the stage during the poll rally at Mohanpur yesterday when Giriraj made the controversial comments.
Quoting the CD of Giriraj`s speech, Samanta mentioned that he had said that those who oppose the BJP Prime Ministerial candidate have a place in Pakistan and not in India, which promotes enmity.
The Bihar Preservation And Improvement of Animals Act invoked the FIR for Giriraj`s remark that the Centre gave subsidy to those who exported beef and taxed those who reared cows.
On the direction of sub-divisional magistrate-cum-deputy Returning Officer Jay Jyoti Samanta, the FIR was filed against Singh, Gadkari, BJP`s Godda candidate Nishikant Dubey and those who were on the stage during the meeting at Mohanpur, Bansal said.
Reacting to Singh`s statement, Deputy Election Commissioner Alok Shukla said, "We have asked for a report. We will decide the proceedings after reading the report."
Meanwhile, Congress and JD(U) also complained to Election Commission and demanded criminal action against Giriraj Singh.
Congress national spokesperson Abhishek Manu Singhvi, posted on micro-blogging website twitter - “Giriraj is hardly the real issue. His is only a overt expression of the camouflaged consistent intolerant thinking of Modi and BJP.”
