"BJP is committed to reservation of women in the election. Both the state and central governments are supporting it. We demand that the bill be passed in Parliament before Goa Assembly election," BJP Goa Mahila Morcha President Sulakshana Sawant told reporters here today.

Elections for Goa Legislative Assembly are due to be held in March 2017.

"The party is committed to give more power to women by passing the bill," she said.

Sawant said the party has already given 33 per cent reservation to women in its state executive and block committees.

The Mahila Morcha has welcomed the state government's Budget announcement on rise in Griha Aadhar benefit from Rs 1,200 to Rs 1,500 and also increase the upper age limit to avail benefits under Laadli Laxmi scheme to 45 years from 40 years.
