Panaji: Votes are being counted on Tuesday for the polls held for Panjim city corporation on Sunday.

A high voter turnout of 74.81 percent was recorded on the polling day for the City Corporation of Panaji (CCP).


A total of 23,675 voters were eligible to cast their vote - 74.36 percent males and 75.22 percent females.


A total of 95 candidates are in the fray for the elections.


The ‘Panjim First’ panel supported by the BJP had fielded candidates in all 30 CCP wards. Goa Pradesh Congress Committee’s panel had 20 candidates, while another floated by ex-Congress leader Atanasio Monserrate - the Panjim City Corporation Development Front (PCCDF) - had 30.


Experts had predicted a close battle between ‘Panjim First’ and PCCDF.
