A police official`s shameful act which can be described as a `dirty touch` got captured in camera during a recently held Kankaria carnival in Ahmedabad.
Ahmedabad: A police official's shameful act which can be described as a 'dirty touch' got captured in camera during a recently held Kankaria carnival here.
In the video clip, which has gone viral on social media, the accused cop could be seen improperly touching not only females but males as well.
Around a minute-long video clip captured by an unidentified person shows the accused policeman 'groping and indecently touching' girls and women while walking at the Kankaria Carnival held in the last week of December.
The Kankaria Carnival is a week-long festival held around Kankaria lake premises in the city, where cultural, art and social events are organised. Hundreds of police personnel are deployed at the Carnival for security purposes.
Since the face of the accused is not visible in the footage, which has gone viral on social media platforms like Whatsapp, he is yet to be identified and the city police have launched an inquiry into the matter.
Senior police inspector of Maninagar police station NS Desai will lead the investigating team.
"Police have ordered an inquiry, which is going on at present to identify the accused policeman from hundreds, who were posted there," Senior police inspector of Maninagar police station NS Desai said.
"We are also yet to identify who shot the video clip," Desai added.
While speaking exclusively to Zee Media, DCP Ahmedabad Rajendra Sisra said, “We are invetigating the matter. All the CCTV footage of the venue will be checked thoroughly before the probe begins.”
When asked why is it taking so long to identify the accused cop, the DCP said, “Police officials from more that 40 police stations are being placed her to manage the law-and-order during the Kankaria carnival. So, it will take some time to identify the accused cop.”
However, Sisra assured that all necessary action will be taken against the accused cop.
