Gurgaon: 14,589 motorists in Gurgaon were today challaned in a special enforcement drive by the police to keep a check on the traffic violators in the city.

The day was marked as 'Zero Tolerance Day'. The police had a target of 10,000 to 20,000 during the day time and worked in full swing, according to police spokesman.


As many as 14,589 motorists in Gurgaon were today challaned under Motor Vehicle Act, as compared to around 1,000-1,500 fines in usual days, the spokesperson said.


A team of 500+ Gurgaon Police and Gurgaon Traffic Police personnel supported by road safety officers contributed to the campaign, he said.


Two traffic police personnel were also injured while stopping the drivers for traffic violation, they said.
