New Delhi: Stomach ulcers can turn out to be very painful which can further lead to severe abdominal pain, nausea and in worst cases, blood in the stool.


So, as the saying goes, prevention is better than cure, here are some tips to prevent stomach ulcers:


Drink boiled water


One should be very particular of the water they drink as the bacteria can spread through contaminated water, thereby worsening the condition. That's why one should always drink boiled, filtered and clean water.


Wash your hands frequently


One should wash their hands frequently with water and soap to lower bacterial load.


Stop drinking alcohol


One should stop drinking alcohol as it not only delays the healing process but also leads to cell death as it acts as va powerful dehydrating agent.


Avoid painkillers


Avoid eating painkillers, especially those containing aspirin and NSAIDs (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) as they are known to cause ulcers by irritating the stomach lining. Frequent and prolonged use of antacids can also lead to the risk of developing stomach ulcers.
