Hyderabad: Sixteen fresh cases of swine flu have been reported in Telangana, where 75 people have succumbed to the H1N1 virus so far since January.

"From January 1 till March 24, 7,005 samples were tested, of which 2,193 found to be positive. The number of deaths because of swine flu and other complications stood at 75 as on date," a bulletin on swine flu issued by the state government said here today.


It said 16 samples out of the 74 which were sent for analysis yesterday, tested positive for the H1N1 virus.


"The number of positive cases reported in the last six days (up to March 24) is 8, 25, 32, 13, 7, and 16," the bulletin said.


The government has advised citizens to take precautions such as reporting to hospitals on appearance of early symptoms of the disease like high fever, sneezing, cough and body pain.


Sufficient stock of medicines and testing kits are available at hospitals in the state, the bulletin added.
