Badwani (Madhya Pradesh): A probe has been ordered into an incident in Madhya Pradesh's Badwani district in which 37 people, who underwent surgeries at an eye camp last month, have developed infection and are in danger of losing their eyesight.
The eye camps were organised from November 16 to 23 in which a total of 86 people had underwent surgeries. From the next day onwards, many patients started complaining of feeling some problem. It occurred due to infection that led to some patients developing itching or liquid coming oozing out of the eyes. They are now being treated in hospitals, administrative sources said.
Badwani's chief medical officer Rajni Dawar told IANS on Friday that operations were held on different days. After patients complained, a total of 37 patients were sent to Indore on Thursday and Friday. The ones with infection are in Arvindo and MYH Hospital.
To investigate the reason behind the eye infections, the health department has order a probe by a four-member team that is reaching Badwani.
"There is no report of anyone losing eyesight. But it is true two patients' condition is critical," said District Officer A.S. Gangwar.
