The American and British bombings in Taliban-controlled areas of Afghanistan have caused extensive damage to the militia's war machine. ''The defence potential of the Taliban has weakened and it cannot launch a counter offensive,'' foreign minister of the northern alliance Abdullah Abdullah said at press conference on Sunday.
“Yesterday's attacks destroyed bases of foreign friends of the Taliban in Kandahar,” he was quoted by Novosti as saying. In these bases are found mostly mercenaries from Arab countries who are waging war on the side of the Taliban.
According to Abdullah, losses among the mercenaries are ‘in hundreds'.
