Chandigarh: The death toll due to swine flu in Punjab has reached 48, an official said today.

As many as 48 people have succumbed to the H1N1 virus in Punjab this year, an official spokesman of Punjab Health department said here.


The number of positive cases has reached 225 while the suspected number of patients are 554, he said.


Out of total 15 samples tested today, eight have been found positive for the the Swine Flu, one each from Amritsar, Gurdaspur, Hoshiarpur, Ludhiana, Mansa, Patiala and two cases from Fatehgarh Sahib, the official said.


However, the officials maintained that the situation is under control.
