Gujarat: Swine flu claims 10 more lives; toll reaches 207
Swine flu claimed ten more lives in Gujarat, taking the toll to 207 since January this year, according to an official release issued here on Sunday.
Ahmedabad: Swine flu claimed ten more lives in Gujarat, taking the toll to 207 since January this year, according to an official release issued here on Sunday.
Besides these deaths, 221 new swine flu cases have been recorded across the state today, taking the total number of cases to 3,017 so far.
"Gujarat has reported ten swine flu deaths on Sunday, taking the total number of deaths to 207, while 221 new H1N1 (swine flu) cases were reported on Sunday," the release said.
Out of these ten deaths, Ahmedabad, Vadodara and Surat reported two each, while Sabarkantha, Bharuch, Surendranagar and Panchmahal district registered one death each, the release said.
The Gujarat state government also claimed that 1,780 patients have been cured so far.
Meanwhile, Political Secretary to Sonia Gandhi Ahmed Patel, who was here today, alleged "mismanagement" on the part of Centre as well as the state government in tackling the disease.
"Swine flu is really a matter of concern not only in Gujarat but also across India. Out of a total of 25,000 patients of swine flu in the world today, 10,000 are registered in India alone, which is almost 40 per cent," Patel claimed during his interaction with the media.
"I think this is mismanagement on the part of the government. It is a case of sheer negligence. Government must pay due attention to swine flu and control its outbreak," Patel said.
