“Tajikietan has agreed in principle to host 200 French soldiers and eight planes as part of the international fight against terrorism,” French Cooperation Minister Charles Josselin said in Tehran.
“There has been an agreement (on Friday in Dushanbe) for the use of an airport in Kuliab, the same one used by the Americans, for six Mirage jets and two Reupply planes,” Josellin said on Saturday.
He added, “200 French soldiers would service the planes in Kuliab, which is located in eastern Tajikistan.” He called it part of France's participation in the war against terrorism, AOW particular against Osama bin Laden and his al-Qaeda networt.
He said, he discussed Afghanistan's reconstruction and the US-led war on terror with Iranian officials. “We had a good dialogue,” Josselin said, after his talks with Iranian Foreign Minister Kamal Kharazi and Parliamentary Speaker Mehdi Karoubi.
“But Iran wants the war on terror not to be limited just to bin Laden and his organisation,” Josselin said Bureau Report
