National Socialist Council of Nagaland (I-M) has questioned the re-conciliation move initiated by Naga Hoho and churches even as the countdown for the formal launching of this effort began on Sunday with ringing of church bells in Naga-inhabited areas of the region.
NSCN (I-M) steering committee, the highest policy level body of the outfit, in a statement on Saturday, said it welcomed any genuine efforts for re-conciliation and unity among the Nagas for which the organisation had also worked in the past, but the present move by the Naga Hoho coordination committee would be a waste of time and energy. The underground outfit maintained that unity and re-conciliation cannot be achieved at the cost of national principle and such efforts would be a waste of time and energy unless one considers the principle that forgiveness that is required can only be done when genuine repentance is made.
