The Jammu and Kashmir Police on Sunday said that one of the terrorists killed in Thursday's attack on the Parliament was among the six who hijacked Indian Airlines Kathmandu-New Delhi flight IC-814 in 1999.
Inspector general of police K Rajander Kumar said on Sunday night that Mohammad Afzal, who was arrested in Srinagar in connection with the raid on Parliament, revealed the identity of the hijacker during interrogation. He identified the hijacker as Mohammad alias Baba - one of the five militants killed in the daring attack on the Parliament. Also, Afzal said that Baba was the man who killed Rupin Katyal, the lone casualty in the infamous December 1999 hijacking. The hijackers had forcibly made the plane to fly to Kandahar in Afghanistan and later released the captives after negotiating the release of three terrorists, including Maulana Masood Azhar, who later went on to form the Jaish-e-Mohammad.
