Swine-flu cases reach 22 in Assam
The number of persons affected with swine flu, across the state, has reached to 22, the government said on Saturday.
Guwahati: The number of persons affected with swine flu, across the state, has reached to 22, the government said on Saturday.
According to an official release, the Health and Family Welfare Department said, 22 persons have been detected positive with the deadly virus till yesterday.
Out of them, nine persons have been detected with the H1N1 virus in Guwahati, while five in Dibrugarh, four in Jorhat, three in Sonitpur and one in Kamrup Rural districts, the release said.
So far, two persons have lost their lives in Jorhat due to swine flu.
The release said adequate medicine stock is available in the state to deal with the situation.
The state government said it is alert in dealing with swine flu cases and prepared isolation wards in every district hospital across the state, besides setting up ICU units in medical college hospitals.
The Union government has classified the outbreak of swine flu in three categories -- A, B and C.
While patients of A and B categories do not need hospitalisation, the C category requires urgent institutional medical attention.
