In a bold initiative, Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee declared a ceasefire in Kashmir for the first time on November 26. The ceasefire was to last for a month. This was extended for another month at the end of Ramzan and was to last till the Republic Day. Despite mixed reactions from the various affected quarters, the Government seems convinced of its ceasfire policy. On Tuesday, once again, the ceasefire has been extended by another month.
