Usually, we store almost all fruit and vegetables in the refrigerator, which actually is a huge blunder. Because not all foods are meant to be refrigerated. In fact, refrigeration can actually cause certain foods to spoil faster.

Here are 5 foods that you should never store in the refrigerator:

Bananas –

Once refrigerated, bananas may never be able to resume the ripening process even if returned to room temperature.

Tomatoes –

While most of us store tomatoes in the refrigerator, the fridge is not the ideal place for storing them. They lose their flavor when refrigerated.

Apples –

Just like tomatoes, apples lose their texture and flavor when refrigerated. If you want to enjoy apples cold, just put them in the fridge about 30 minutes before eating.

Onions –

Storing onions in the refrigerator can spoil them due to lack of air circulation. Also, avoid storing onions near potatoes, which gives off moisture and gas causing them to spoil faster. Instead, keep onions in a clean, dry and well-ventilated place.

Avocados –

As in the case of bananas, refrigeration disrupts an avocado's ripening process.
