New Delhi: Diabetes is emerging as one of the fastest growing chronic diseases in the world. As per a WHO report, about 350 million people worldwide suffer from diabetes and the number is likely to double in the next 20 years.

WHO also projects that diabetes will be the 7th leading cause of death in 2030.

However, simple lifestyle measures have been shown to be effective in preventing or delaying the onset of diabetes.

On the occasion of World Health Day, which is being celebrated on April 7 every year, the WHO is focussing on ways to halt the rise of diabetes worldwide. The theme for this year's World Health Day is “ Halt the rise: beat diabetes”.

On its official website, WHO has a few diabetes quiz to check for risk.
