New Delhi: If researchers are to be trusted, turmeric can be helpful in fighting drug-resistant tuberculosis. As per a new study, this is an addition to the effectiveness of this important ingredient in Indian delicacies.


Over the years, tumeric or haldi, as it is popularly known in India, has been used to treat many health conditions and possess antioxidant, anti-cancer and anti-inflammatory properties.


The study has further revealed that curcumin, which is a substance in Turmeric can successfully remove Mycobacterium tuberculosis, which happens to be the causative bacterium of tuberculosis.
