Rajesh Kashyap is the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate from Solan in the Himachal Pradesh 2017 Assembly elections. Kashyap is contesting the election against none other than his father-in-law Dhani Ram Shandil, who is the incumbent MLA on a Congress ticket.

Kashyap’s brother, Virendra Kashyap, is also a BJP leader, currently a Member of Parliament from Shimla Lok Sabha seat.


The leader recently took voluntary retirement from government service to contest the Assembly elections on a BJP ticket.


It will certainly be a tough contest for Kashyap against his father-in-law, as the latter is a sitting MLA and a minister in the state cabinet. However, anti-incumbency may even benefit the BJP leader.
