Shimla: Lance Naik Om Prakash who was killed while fighting terrorists in Pampore of South Kashmir's Pulwama district was cremated with full state honours at his native Chikker village, about 50 km from here Monday.

The Army contingents presented the guard of honour to the slain soldier while hundreds of villagers gave a tearful farewell to the son of the soil.


Body of the 32-year-old was airlifted to Chail in Solan district and brought to his native village Chikker in Satlai Panchayat this evening.


Army paid tribute to its valiant soldier who laid down his life for the nation with full military honours.


The Commander of Kasauli Brigade, Brigadier Deepak Sharma and General Officer Commanding in Chief, Army Training Brig R S Kochhar, laid wreath on the soldier.


Om Prakash is survived by wife Krishana Devi and two daughters, Simran (3) and Muskan (7).


The soldier's father Nek Ram said he would not shed tears as he was proud of his son.
