Named Ranga, this buffaloe is an offspiring of another buffaloe purchased by its proud owner Sahib Singh from Haryana. Singh had purchased her mother at Rs 87 lakhs from another farmer.

Ranga's owner hails from Hamirpur in Himachal Pradesh, bhaskar.com reported.

According to Singh, Ranga was offered 1 crore 37 lakhs at a cattle auction on last Friday but he refused to sell it. Singh said he won't give away Ranga in less than 5 crore.

The quoting price of Rs 5 crore for a buffaloe at an auction is perhaps the steepest at any such platforms till date in the country.

Paramjit Singh, who quoted the price of Rs 1 crore, 37 lakhs for the buffaloe at the Friday's auction, hails from the city of Amritsar in Punjab.

That price itself is a huge sum of money but the owner thought otherwise.

Singh said that prospective buyers from several states had participated in the auction on Friday.
