Clashes break out on India-Nepal border, 200 Indian trucks stranded
Some 200 trucks were stranded on the India-Nepal border after the Madhesi community of Nepal blocked the road to protest.
Raxaul: Protestors from the Madhesi community on Monday clashed with the security forces as they blocked the India-Nepal border at Raxaul in protest.
Over 200 Indian trucks are reportedly stranded on the border because of the protest.
According to an NDTV report, the security forces have resorted to baton charge to control the protestors.
The protestors had reportedly blocked the Maitri bridge when the cops allegedly used batons on them to disperse the agitators.
The Madhesi community of Nepal has been agitating against the newly-adopted Constitution of Nepal.
It has sought “moral” support from India to “force” the Himalayan nation to accept its demands.
The agitation by the Madhesis has intensified of late with the members of the community squatting on the roads blocking movement of vehicles.
