The divorce rate for Hindus is the lowest among all communities. For Hindus, divorce rate is reported at only 1.8 per thousand.

However, divorce rate is more in Muslims as compared to Hindus. For Muslims, divorce rate is reported at 3.4 per thousand.

According to experts, divorce is more prevalent among Muslims, probably because of the provision of triple talaq.

Among Muslims, the share of women divorcees is 5 per thousand. However, it is 2-3 per thousand for Hindus, Sikhs and Jains, according to a report in TOI.

Also, the divorce and separation rates in India are higher among Christians and Buddhists and lower among Jains and Sikhs.
