5.3-magnitude earthquake hits Afghanistan, tremors felt in north India
Tremors were felt across north India on Saturday as a moderate intensity earthquake hit Afghanistan.
New Delhi: Tremors were felt in some parts of northern India, including Delhi and NCR, on Saturday.
The India Meteorological Department said the earthquake measuring 5.8 on the Richter scale originated in Afghanistan's Hind Kush mountains, near Jarm in Afghanistan, at 2.07 pm.
The United States Geological Survey (USGS), however, put the intensity of the earthquake at 5.3.
The earthquake was 170 km deep, according to the National Seismology division of Ministry of Earth Sciences.
There were no reports of casualties or damage to property.
The tremors were also felt in Jammu and Kashmir and Pakistan. People ran out of their offices and houses in J&K.
