Itanagar: In a shocking incident, former CM of Arunachal Pradesh Kalikho Pul was found dead on Tuesday.

Reportedly, he allegedly hanged himself at his official residence in Itanagar on Tuesday morning. He was yet to vacate the bungalow.


Pul was suffering from depression, media reports said.


It is yet to ascertained that why he took the extreme step.


Also, no suicide note has been found from the spot.


PM Narendra Modi has also offered condolences on Pul's demise.


"My thoughts are with the family & supporters of Kalikho Pul on his sad demise. His service to Arunachal Pradesh will be remembered: PM (sic)," PMO tweeted.



Reacting the unfortunate incident, ex-CM Nabam Tuki said, "May God give strength to his family; a loss for entire Arunachal Pradesh. Congress family is with his family in this moment of grief."


He was a Congress rebel in Arunachal Pradesh who was briefly chief minister for around four months after the state was placed under President's Rule following a series of dramatic developments.


Pul had been chief minister in early 2016, but had to resign in the wake of an adverse Supreme Court verdict in July 2016.


He had become the 8th chief minister of Arunachal Pradesh on February 19, 2016. He was just 47.
