Govt does not tolerate politics on arts and music: Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi

New Delhi: In the wake of Pakistani maestro Ghulam Ali being banned from performing in Mumbai, Parliamentary Affairs and Minority Affairs Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi on Friday said that the government does not tolerate politics over music.
"The Maharashtra Government was not against the performance, in fact they were offering additional security but if the organisers are against it completely then what is to be done?" Naqvi told ANI here.
He added that music cannot be mapped in boundaries and politics over it was a tasteless matter.
After being banned from performing in Mumbai and Pune by the Shiv Sena, Ghulam Ali has been invited to perform in Kolkata and Delhi.
The Shiv Sena had earlier defended its move stating that banning the singer was their tribute to the Indian soldiers, who had died at the hands of Pakistan in the recent ceasefire violations. (ANI)
