Delhi: With reports doing the rounds that Rahul Gandhi will soon replace his mother Sonia as the party president, speculation is rife as to who would be part of the new team.

As per a report in News18, leaders believed to be closest to Rahul Gandhi are - Ajay Maken, Randeep Surjewala, Jitendra Singh of Alwar and RPN Singh.


On the other hand, leaders said to be close to the Congress VP are - Jyotiraditya Scindia, Sachin Pilot, Jitin Prasada, Vijendra Singla, Ravneet Singh Bittu, Sushmita Dev, Gaurav Gogoi, AK Antony and K Raju.


Then, as per the report, group of professionals who reportedly have his ear are - Sam Pitroda, Alankar Sawai, Prashant Kishor, Kaushal Vidyarthi and Mohan Gopal.


A per media reports, Rahul will be elevated as party chief after Congress Working Committee (CWC) meet.


Reports also suggested that the Congress had decided to go for major structural changes keeping in view the recent poll defeats in Assam, West Bengal, Kerala and Tamil Nadu.


Also, it may be noted that the crucial Uttar Pradesh and Punjab elections are scheduled for next year.


The party is now in power only in six states and there has been a growing concern in the Congress after a series of election losses suffered by the party since 2014.
