Former media honcho Indrani Mukerjea in her statement recorded with police late on Tuesday denied taking any pills.
Mumbai: Former media honcho Indrani Mukerjea, accused in Sheena Bora murder case, in her statement recorded with police late on Tuesday denied taking any pills, a report said on Wednesday.
According to a CNN-IBN report, Indrani, wife of former STAR India CEO Peter Mukerjea, completely rejected the reports saying that she did not take any pills and neither did anyone supplied them to her inside the jail.
Indrani maintained that her health condition deteriorated because of her mother 's death.
Former media executive Indrani had been under treatment since last Friday after falling unconscious.
Following an improvement in her condition, she was discharged and shifted back to the Byculla jail by the police , where she will be in judicial custody till October 19.
Newly-appointed IG (Prisons) Bipin Kumar Singh is heading the probe into the circumstances under which Indrani collapsed in Byculla Women's Prison, where she is lodged under judicial custody since last month, and rushed to state-run medical facility five days ago.
It is suspected that the 43-year-old had overdose of anti-depressant pills.
After Indrani's hospitalisation, conflicting reports had emerged on suspected drug overdose in prison.
While one report showed she had overdosed on anti-depressant pills, the other found no such thing.
A magistrate's court here on Monday extended till October 19 the judicial custody of all three accused Indrani Mukerjea, Indrani's ex-husband Sanjeev Khanna and her former driver Shyamvar Rai.
Sheena was murdered on April 24, 2012, allegedly by Indrani, Khanna and Rai who disposed of her partly burnt body in the forests in Raigad district.
The accused were arrested from Mumbai and Kolkata in September.
