Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) on Tuesday declared the results of class 10 examination in which the top three positions have been bagged by girls.

A total of 50,535 students - 26,900 boys and 23,600  girls -- had appeared in the examination, which was held in March because of the floods that hit the Valley in September last year.


The first three positions have been shared by seven girls, the JKBOSE officials said.


Anika Shabir, a student of a private school in Awantipora area of Pulwama district in south Kashmir has secured the first position with 494 marks out of maximum 500.


The second position has been shared by four girls with 491 marks, while the third position was shared by two girls who obtained 490 marks.


The first 20 positions have been shared by 182 students, the officials said.


They said overall pass percentage was 71.85 per cent, which is almost one percent lesser than the last year.


However, the overall pass percentage of boys (74.5) is higher than that of girls (68.8), the officials said.
