JNU sedition row: Another student Ashutosh surrenders before police; security beefed up for Kanhaiya

New Delhi: A third wanted student in the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) sedition case has surrendered before the Delhi Police.

Two more students, Umar Khalid and Anirban Bhattacharya, had surrendered before the police earlier this week on Tuesday night.
While JNU students union (JNUSU) president Kanhaiya Kumar was arrested by the police on February 12 three days after a pro-Afzal Guru event in university campus where anti-India slogans were raised allegedly by students.
Two more JNU students - Anant Prakash and Rama Naga - are also wanted by the police in the sedition case.
Meanwhile, security has been tightened in Tihar Jail where Kanhaiya Kumar has been kept in judicial custody.
The measure has been taken to ensure Kanhaiya's safety who was roughed up by lawyers while being produced before the court a few days back.
Food provided to Kanhaiya is also being checked, as per an order issued by additional inspector-general (prisons) Mukesh Prasad.
The order further states that the deputy superintendents should meet Kumar at least twice a day.
