Ahead of the Punjab Assembly Elections 2017, cricketer-turned-politician Sidhu resigned from Rajya Sabha yesterday just three months after his nomination to the Upper House by the Narendra Modi government.

Sidhu has quit the BJP as well and would not return to its fold, his wife today confirmed.

Shatrughan Sinha, the actor-turned politician, has numerous times given statements, which has been in contrast to BJP's stand. In the past he had paid a visit to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal at his home.

Kirti Azad, was suspended by BJP after he openly spoke about Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, over the issue of alleged corruption in Delhi's cricket association.

Azad had argued that his campaign was against corruption in DDCA and had nothing to do with the BJP.

Sinha had then spoken in favour of Azad.
