PM Modi today rushed to the BJP patriarch's residence and met him personally.

The Prime Minister also wished Advani on his birthday on micro-blogging website Twitter and prayed for his long and healthy life.

“Wishing our inspiration, one of India’s tallest leaders who has served India tirelessly & diligently, Shri LK Advani ji on his birthday. I pray to God that Advani ji is blessed with a long and healthy life,” the Prime Minister tweeted.

Besides PM Modi, Union Minister Smriti Irani also wished Advani on his birthday.

In a tweet, Irani described Advani as a ‘guiding light’ and said, “On his birthday, I extend my heartiest wishes to our guiding light Shri LK Advani ji. Prayers for his good health & long life.”

Minister of State Jitendra Singh also extended his wishes to the senior BJP leader.

Advani, who served as the Minister of Home Affairs during NDA regime under Atal Bihari Vajpayee in 1998-2004, turned 88 today.

The former deputy Prime Minister was allegedly sidelined by the Modi government after coming to power in 2014 and was not given significant role in key decision-making bodies of the party.

Advani was included in the 'Marg Darshak Mandal' and served as a mentor to BJP along with Murli Manohar Joshi and Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
