Mumbai: The Mumbai police on Thursday said that the man detained from an IndiGo airlines Dubai-Calicut flight did not raise any slogans hailing terror outfit - the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIS).
The IndiGo flight 6E-89 was diverted to Mumbai today after the passenger on seat 5D, travelling with his brother, suddenly started misbehaving with the crew.
"He jumped on the forward cart, used for food and onboard merchandise and sat on it. The crew politely requested him to step down from the cart and he obliged," IndiGo said in a statement.
Mumbai Police spokesperson Ashok Dudhe confirmed that the passenger was detained for unruly conduct and he did not raise any slogans, as reported earlier. He is being questioned.
But after that, he suddenly got violent and began `physically abusing` the other co-passenger even as the crew attempted to calm and control him.
The flight made a precautionary landing at the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport around 9.15 am where the passenger was offloaded and handed over to the CISF and airport police.
The flight departed about an hour later minus the offloaded passenger, an airport official said.
