Citing official sources, the report said that NIA has already forwarded Zahid Miyan`s address to the South African authorities so they could arrest him.
New Delhi: The NIA (National Investigation Agency) may soon be able to nab one of the close aides of India's most wanted terrorist Dawood Ibrahim who is reportedly hiding in a South African city, a media report said on Saturday.
NIA has reportedly approached the South African authorities for details regarding D Company henchman Zahid Miyan, alias Jao, who is settled there.
Zahid Miyan has played a key role in a conspiracy to kill BJP, RSS, Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal members.
A TOI report said that the agency has prepared an extradition request which will be forwarded to South Africa.
Citing official sources, the report said that NIA has already forwarded Zahid Miyan's address to the South African authorities so they could arrest him.
His supposed South African address is: 23, Malan Road, Korsten, Durban Road, Port Elizabeth, Eastern Cape.
Zahid Miyan works with Pakistan-based Javed Chikna and manages Dawood's illegal businesses in South Africa.
Quoting the NIA, the report said that Zahid Miyan along with Chikna masterminded the conspiracy to kill Hindu leaders, who they believed were active in 2002 Gujarat riots and anti-Muslim.
The duo has reportedly asked youngsters who work for D Company in India to target Hindu leaders and get high-paying jobs in South Africa.
Indian investigators believe that Jao's extradition would help them identify D Company's illegal businesses in South Africa and other countries.
The Indian authorities have already issued a red corner notice against Jao and if he is caught, NIA may seek his extradition, the report said.
Ten D Company members, including Chikna's brother Abid Patel, has already chargesheeted by NIA in the case.
Former Bharuch BJP president, senior RSS member Shirish Bangali and general secretary of Bharatiya Janta Yuva Morcha Pragnesh Mistry were shot dead on November 2 last year as part of their plan, the report added.
