Nearly a week after Union HRD minister Smriti Irani`s suggestion that the national flag fly at a prominent place on the campuses of all central universities was passed by vice-chancellors as a resolution, over 1100 Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs) across the country are set to fly the Tricolour on their premises.
New Delhi: Nearly a week after Union HRD minister Smriti Irani's suggestion that the national flag fly at a prominent place on the campuses of all central universities was passed by vice-chancellors as a resolution, over 1100 Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs) across the country are set to fly the Tricolour on their premises.
The Centre has made it mandatory for the KVs to fly the Tricolour on their premises, a report in TOI said.
Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS), which comes under the HRD ministry, in a letter has asked all the schools to make arrangements for hoisting the Tricolour daily, and lowering it before sunset, the report added.
All a resolution was adopted at a meeting chaired by HRD Minister Smriti Irani that 46 Central Universities will fly the tricolour atop a 207-feet tall flag mast "prominently and proudly" on their campuses to signify a "strong India" and the first will be hoisted at JNU.
"At a central place in every university, the national flag will be flown prominently and proudly," the resolution passed at a meeting Irani had with the Vice Chancellors of Central universities, said.
