According to reports, Jaish-e-Mohammed head Maulana Masood Azhar's brother Abdul Rauf Asghar is the mastermind of Pathankot attack.


The younger brother of Jaish-e-Mohammad chief Masood Azhar, Abdul Rauf Asghar is commander of Jaish-e-Mohammed.


Earlier, Pathankot attackers were believed to have infiltrated from Pakistan and there was speculation that they may belong to Jaish-e-Mohammad headed by Maulana Masood Azhar of the Kandahar hijack episode.


Jaish-e-Mohammed is based mainly in the Pakistan-administered portion of the state of Kashmir.


Masood Azhar was the mastermind of Kandahar hijack episode.


Earlier, heavily-armed Pakistani terrorists had stormed the Air Force base in Pathankot, triggering a gunbattle in which 7 security men and all the 6 infiltrators were killed.
