New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday thanked his Bangladeshi counterpart Sheikh Hasina for the support given by the country after last month's terror attack in Uri in Jammu and Kashmir.
External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Vikas Swarup, who was speaking on the sidelines of BRICS-BIMSTEC Summit at Cavelosim said, "Prime Minister Narendra Modi has thanked Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for showing solidarity with India after the Uri attack."
On Sunday, PM Modi had praised Bangladesh for its stance against terrorism and had asked Hasina on how she succeeded in battling terrorism and militancy.
The Prime Minister's Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim said Hasina credited public awareness against terrorism for the success her government achieved so far. "She said the awareness against terrorism is being created at the family level. Even imams are speaking against terrorism at mosques," Karim said.
"The Prime Minister also said the people were also responding to government call against terrorism," Karim added.
