New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday greeted all workers and volunteers of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on the the party's 'sthapana diwas' (day of establishment).

The PM tweeted: "On the BJP's 'Sthapana Diwas' my greetings to all the BJP Karyakartas and well-wishers. (sic)"



And followed it up with, "BJP's phenomenal growth is due to the efforts & hardwork of generations of selfless Karyakartas who devoted their lives to our Nation. (sic)"



"BJP will leave no stone unturned to fulfil people's aspirations & create an India that is strong, developed & inclusive (sic)," he added.



The Bharatiya Janata Party was founded on April 6, 1980.


Its origins however lie in the Bharatiya Jana Sangh which was formed in 1951 by Syama Prasad Mookerjee.
