New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday honoured Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on the occasion of his 140th birth anniversary.

"Saluting the Iron Man and the Architect of Modern India, Sardar Patel," the Prime Minister tweeted.


He also paid tribute to former prime minister Indira Gandhi on her death anniversary.


The Minister offered floral tributes at Sardar Patel statue on Parliament Street along with Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, Home Minister Rajnath Singh and Union Minister of Parliamentary Affairs Venkaiah Naidu.


Meanwhile, Congress president Sonia Gandhi, vice president Rahul Gandhi and former prime Minister Manmohan Singh paid tribute to Indira Gandhi on her death anniversary at Shakti Sthal.


Prime Minister Modi will flag off the 'Run For Unity' at Rajpath today. The day is being celebrated as 'Rashtriya Ekta Diwas' (National Unity Day).
