New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday will be present at the Samajik Adhikarita camps in Vadodara, Gujarat, where aids and assistive devices will be distributed under the ADIP Scheme to Divyangjans.

The Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities [Divyangjan], Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment is organising the event.


Gujarat Governor O.P. Kohli, Chief Minister Vijay Rupani, Union Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment Thaawarchand Gehlot, Deputy Chief Minister of Gujarat Nitin Patel, Speaker of Gujarat State Assembly Ramanlal Vora, Ministers of State for Social Justice and Empowerment Ramdas Athwale, Krishna Pal Gurjar, Vijay Sampla, Minister of Gujarat for Social Justice and Empowerment , Women and Child Development Atmaram Parmar, Member of Parliament Ranjanben Bhatt and Ransinh Rathwa and other state dignitaries will also grace the occasion.


In the 169th Mega ADIP Camp more than 10,000 pre-identified Divyangjan beneficiaries will be benefitted with contemporary aids and assistive devices by ALIMCO, E-Card of Niramaya Health Insurance Scheme of National Trust and Loan and Skill Training certificates issued by the NHFDC.


The aids and assistive devices and other facilities amounting approx Rs. 9.26 crore will be distributed in this camp.


High-end-devices aimed at imparting education, training and information technology awareness will be provided to needy Divyangjans.The camp will be held under the ADIP Scheme of Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (Divyangjan), Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, which is in force since 1981 and further has been revised and adopted from April 1, 2014.


The main objective of the scheme is to provide latest and modern aids manufactured by various agencies such as National Institutes, Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India [ALIMCO], District Disability Rehabilitation Centres, State Handicapped Development Corporations, other local bodies and NGOs.


These aids are being given to the Divyangjans to promote their physical, social and psychological rehabilitation.In the camp, 300 beneficiaries of the National Trust will be felicitated mostly with Niramaya Health Insurance Scheme in which insurance of Rs. 1.0 lakh is given for the welfare of those suffering from autism, cerebral palsy, mental retardation and multiple disabilities.Besides, Disha and Vikaas Day Care Centres beneficiaries will also be present. 


Disha is a day care centre for early intervention and school readiness for children up to the age of 10 years.Vikaas is an inter-personal skill development above 10 years of age and adults.


The National Trust schemes improve the quality of life of persons suffering from autism, cerebral palsy, mental retardation and multiple disabilities.


Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation [ALIMCO], is a central public sector undertaking, working under the department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities [Divyangjan].ALIMCO has conducted need assessment camps of divyangjan residing in Vadodara district with the focus to cover maximum population of divyangjan, especially from distant rural areas.


The assessments have been conducted with the help of District Administration, Vadodara and Chota Udaipur in four phases; Phase -I from March 11-27, 2015 and Phase-II from August 19-28, 2015 and Phase-III from September 20-30, 2016 and Phase -IV from October 4-6, 2016 and October 15-16, 2016.During the event the beneficiaries will be given certificates of training and loans by NHFDC.Laptops will also be provided to Divyangjans by NIPID located at Secunderabad. 


Below- mentioned aids and assistive devices will be distributed by ALIMCO and other National Institutes of the Department.50 motorized tricycles, 2305 tricycles, 1185 wheelchairs, 2064 crutches, 1141 walking sticks, 275 braille canes, 1448 tlm kits, 65 cerebral palsy chairs, 109 braille slates, 258 braille kits, 180 rolletors (adult and child), 228 adl leprosy kits, 394 smartphones, 147 daisy players for visual impaired people, 2461 digital hearing aids, 1976 artificial limbs and orthotics are also expected to be distributed.In the august presence of Prime Minister Modi, three Guinness World Records were created successfully in the mega ADIP Camp held at Navsari, Gujarat on September 17, 2016.


The certificates for these three Guinness World Records created will presented to the Prime Minister by the team of Guinness Book of World Records during the Vadodara event.
