PM Narendra Modi to meet business leaders in Qatar today
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will meet business leaders in Qatar on Sunday and he will also hold bilateral talks with Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani, the Emir of Qatar.
Doha (Qatar): Prime Minister Narendra Modi will meet business leaders in Qatar on Sunday and he will also hold bilateral talks with Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani, the Emir of Qatar.
Some agreements in different fields including skill development, recognition of qualification, and tourism and co operation in customs matter are likely to be inked.
Earlier, in a Facebook post, Prime Minister Modi said, "Look forward to meeting His Highness Sheikh Tamim whose landmark visit to India last year had ushered in a new momentum in our relations. I will have the honour to meet Father Emir who personally guided our relations for nearly two decades. This visit will nourish the historical bonds of friendship deeply rooted in people to people contacts, energy, trade and investment partnership."
Signing of agreements will facilitate workforce mobility, skill development and placement of youth in overseas jobs in Qatar.
He will begin his day meeting with business leaders, where he will discuss trade, investment and persuade captains of industry to invest in India as it has made doing business easier.
Prime Minister Modi will also be accorded a ceremonial reception at the Emiri Diwan.
The two nations will sign agreements in various field including skill development and recognition of qualifications to facilitate workforce mobility and placement of youth in overseas jobs in Qatar.
Prime Minister Modi yesterday visited Afghanistan and inaugurated the Afghan-India Friendship Dam, earlier know as Salma Dam in Herat.
He arrived in Doha for the second leg of his five-nation tour, after concluding the first leg of his trip in Afghanistan yesterday.
He was greeted by Qatar's Prime Minister Sheikh Abdullah Bin Nasser Al Thani at the airport.
The Prime Minister interacted with Indian workers at a medical camp in downtown Doha, where he assured them of taking up problems faced by them during his talks with leaders of Qatar.
He ended his first day here with a meeting with Prime Minister Sheikh Abdullah Bin Nasser Al Thani.
He also attended a banquet held in his honour by Prime Minister Al Thani.
After visiting Qatar, he will travel to Switzerland, the United States and Mexico.
The focus will be on broadening bilateral trade, energy and security cooperation and push for India's bid to become a member of the Nuclear Suppliers Group (NSG).
