New Delhi: Malaysians will have the opportunity to meet Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi at a public reception this Sunday.

The reception is organized by approximately 90 cultural and community organizations in Malaysia, including expatriates called welcomes partners.


They are expecting 15000 members to attend the function at the Malaysia International exhibition and convention centre (MIECC), Jalan Dulang, MINES Resort City, Seri Kembangan.


Welcome Partners Chairman Tan Sri Kishu Tirathrai said this is Prime Minister Modi's first visit to Malaysia and the Indian Community wanted to mark "This important visit of the leader of the world's largest democracy."


The Indian Prime Minister is in Kuala Lumpur for the ASEAN and EAST ASIA SUMMIT which is ongoing until November 27.


Mr. Kishu said the reception would start at 3 p.m..


In the first segment of the afternoon's programme, there will a cultural event showcasing the rich cultures of Malaysia and India.


Prime Minister Modi will deliver a public address at the end of the cultural performance. This will be the highlight of the event.


This visit by the Indian Prime Minister will further strengthen the existing close ties between Malaysia and India.


Various other events hosted by the Malaysian Government will provide a good opportunity for businessmen from India and Malaysia to consider the many investment opportunities in the two countries, Kishu said.
